Lohri celebration

To mark the onset of harvest season Darshan Academy Delhi, celebrated Lohri. A special assembly was conducted by Ms Meenakshi Bhatia in which the students from junior and senior wing participated. The function started by a beautifu note by the tiny tots highlighting the importance of the festival of Lohri in English and Punjabi Students of Pre primary and Primary presented colourful gala dances with a great zeal and enthusiasm. The mood on the campus was upbeat and the students were totally absorbed in the festive spirit of Lohri. Mrs. Sheetal highlighted the importance and sanctity behind the festival. Separate special programme was organised for the students in the second half which was full of interesting fun events in the presence of bonfire. The bonfire was lit by newly married teacher Mrs Aarti to mark the harvest festival and everyone offered popcorn and peanuts to it. Not only the students’ but teachers also enjoyed singing and dancing session around the bonfire. Prasad was distributed among the students, staff, parents and guests. To add more fun, the teachers from Kindergarten and Primary performed giddha, the folk dance of Punjab. The Principal Mr A. David reflected the hope that the coming year would bring happiness in the lives of the students and teachers as well. He emphasized that Lohri festival prompts people to be thankful for God’s provision and also encouraged teachers to play a vital role to keep the tradition and culture alive in our festivities.
