Ghazals by Sant Darshan Singh Ji Maharaj for Poetry Fest 2017

The very air is dancing, and the cup itself
        Is in ecstasy,
For today you have come with the message
        Of spring.

I have learned to cherish all creation as my own,
Your message of love is the very meaning
       Of my life.

Your abode is so exalted,
That morning and evening the sun and the moon
     Offer salutations at your threshold.

In the journey of love there comes a point
Where even the most proud bend their heads
     On their own.

To make the whole world drink of divine love,
O Darshan, the Cupbearer of the heavens
has come among us here on earth.

Heart to heart and soul to soul----
   That is a true meeting.
Passing each other, coming and going, is not
   Even an encounter.

The moth was speechless, and the flame was silent;
In the entire assembly there were only two
   Who shared this secret.

A glance of grace is the cure for all pains
       Of the world.
But alas, from where can I secure such a glance of love?

It is my intense desire, O Darshan,
  That when remembered,
My life is recalled with the lives
Of the enlightened mystics.

This quivering, glistening tear on your eyelashes
  Is a star falling from the azure sky;
A drop of mercury, sparkling and full of warmth,
Or a lustrous pearl emerging from its shell.

It is a charm which binds onlookers with a spell,
A dewdrop which trembles on the blooming rose at dawn.
It is a radiant atom touched by the golden rays
Of the sun; indeed, it is unrivalled and unparalleled in life.

The eternal Cupbearer’s bowl is overflowing,
And your tear embodies eternal love and grace
The loving remembrance of those you hold dear,
Drawing life from every vein, issues from your eyes.

Transformed into a priceless pearl
  Through the alchemy of love,
This tear, this wondrous tear, lights the way
  To our communion with God.

from the poem, ‘’the Cry of the Soul’’

We are but drops of the same fountain
  of divine beauty;
We are but waves on the great river of love.

We are diverse blossoms in the garden of the Lord,
Who have gathered in the same valley of Light.

We who dwell on this earth belong to one humanity;
There is but one God, and we are His children.

Let us march forth to overcome the storms of strife;
Let us march forth to light the lamp of universal Love.

Let the lotus of renewed aspirations blossom
       in our hearts,
And let those long divided embrace one another.

If love once again is rekindled within our breasts,
This life of ours will recover its beauty and youth.

How long can the darkness of strife envelope
      the earth?
The human spirit will soon awaken, and the light
of day shall illumine every heart.

Annexure 2 English Poems for Poetry Fest 2017:

For Pre-Primary

I love flowers,
They help birds in pollination.
I love trees,
They give me oxygen.

I love my teachers,
They give us love and care.
I love my classmates,
They help us in every situation.

I love the rain that splashes on me
God made the rain and God made me

I love the breeze that blows on me.
God made the breeze and God made me

I love the flowers that blossom near me.
God made the flowers and God made me

I love my friends that play with me.
God made friends and God made me.

This little light of mine
I am going to let it shine
This little light of mine
I am going to let it shine
This little light of mine
I am going to let it shine
Let it shine, let it shine
All the time, let it shine.

Hide it under the bush it oh no
I am going to let it shine
Let it shine
All the time, let it shine.

I am glad, I am me
I am special, I am me
No one walks the way I walk
No one talks the way I talk
No one plays the way I play
No one says the things I say
I am special, I am me
There’s no one else like me

Twinkle twinkle little star
I want to be a shining star
If I work hard day and night
My future is going
To be very bright
Set your goals for body
Mind and soul
And work hard till
You reach your goal.

Annexure 2 English Poems for Grades I & II:

Peace, Peace, Peace, that is my name,
If everyone has this, nobody needs fame.
I come in your heart with love,
My symbol is the bird called dove.
Some people pray for me to come,
Have they ever noticed what they have done?
Fighting is what people do,
This way I won’t come to you.
Have love for all women and men,
After this just blink and I am right there and then!

Smile at the morning sun
Smile when the day is done
Smile when you worry
Smile when you are in hurry
Smile when you go to school
Always feel happy and cool
Smile when you eat some bread
Smile when you go to bed
Pass a smile to everyone
Enjoy and have fun!
Keep smiling
To have peaceful living!!
